NY Immigration Attorney Susan B. Henner to Speak at The Immigration Law Committee
On October 18, 2011, Attorney Susan B. Henner will moderate and speak at a CLE Seminar hosted by The Westchester County Bar Association Immigration Law Committee.
WHITE PLAINS, NY, October 16, 2011 /Law and Legal PR News/ -- On October 18, 2011, Attorney Susan B. Henner will moderate and speak at a CLE Seminar hosted by The Westchester County Bar Association Immigration Law Committee entitled "Recent Trends in Arrests and Detention of Criminal Immigrants." The seminar will take place at 445 Hamilton Avenue, 2nd floor Conference Room, in White Plains, NY from 5:30 to 8:00PM.
The CLE will focus on issues involving criminal law and immigration including criminal detainers, the Padilla requirements, the role of the criminal lawyer in the immigration process, the changing status of Secure Communities in New York, as well as forms of relief from removal and the current trends in the field.
When asked to comment on her involvement in the CLE event, Attorney Henner said, "This seminar is essential for any criminal lawyer who works with persons who may have immigration issues. Criminal lawyers are now required under law to properly and meaningfully advise clients as to the immigration consequences relating to their pleas or convictions. One wrong step can irrevocably end in the deportation of a client from the United States. Immigration lawyers who are seeking to learn more about current trends in criminal immigration law are also advised to sign up for this program."
The Westchester County Bar Association provides programs for the local bar and mentoring for newer practitioners in the field. The Immigration Committee consists of new and experienced immigration practitioners within the field who are located in the Westchester County area.
